'Absolutely LOVE these pencils! They are such good quality and go down on the paper so smoothly. They blend with one another perfectly, giving total satisfaction when colouring even intricate pictures.

I needed some more light colours for my colouring books and these are just awesome. The blending, the smooth colours, the pigmentation is all awesome.
I wish I could get them in open stock though. I see myselft continuing using them, but it makes no sense to buy a whole new set everytime I run out of a single colour.

Haven't used properly as yet. Like lighter colour tones

I was looking for some quality art supplies as I was looking for a hobby that was relaxing and enjoyable. My mum was a wonderful artist who exhibited and sold her oil paintings and when I was young I could have learned so much from her but I was more into sports than art. I decided to start with watercolours and liked that so much ordered the acrylic sets. Since then I’ve added many of the pencil sets and follow a number of artist lessons online. The quality of Castle Arts is excellent and their customer services always answer queries very quickly and are very helpful. The pencil sets are an absolute joy to draw with. I’m going to order the gold pencils soon as what I’ve learned is that they are excellent for fine work in lifelike drawings such as getting photo quality likeness and detail in eyes etc. The accompanying picture was just a quick tryout of the acrylic paints on a miniature stretch canvas.

I’m an ex graphic designer and competent artist in most mediums (except oils as they make me I’ll).
I use Faber Castel Polychromos pencils mostly but I’m always on the lookout for other brands to try and recommend if warranted.
I received my first set of Castle Arts Gold colouring pencils and unfortunately a few of them had broken leads and once sharpened they were a quite a bit shorter than the rest of the 120 pencil set. However Castle Arts were quick to apologise and replaced the whole set free of charge. I was convinced it was the fault of the poor packaging, big box smaller item floating about. Maybe a less flimsy (I’m used to much stronger pencil cases) pencil case might of protected them better. I know the pencil case is free but I’m sure that artists would want something more sturdy to keep them in. I’m sure that after using pencils myself there will be a lot of colourists especially, wanting to use these great Castles Arts Gold colouring pencils
Now to the quality of the pencils themselves. I was impressed at how they felt in the hand. Only complaint I had was I tried to use a manual pencil as was suggested, only to find that I could not grip the pencil to sharpen it. I have arthritis and so I used my desktop sharpener and had no problems.
There is a great selection of colours only confusing thing was when I compared like for like (colour name) with my Polychromos there was a difference in the 2 colours. The pencils are soft and creamy and kept their points well. I was surprised that they did not transfer colour to either skin or paper when put down on the page. The colours blended quite well, but after 3 or 4 layers there is an oily clumping of coloured pencil sitting on top which is hard to blend in well. The pencils lay down on the page well either very lightly or more solid. I love the way the pencils colour an how vibrant they look.
Would I recommend them……..yes, very definitely! They cost £60 coming complete with lots of useful information some different types of drawing paper in useful A5 pads. There are some drawing and colouring exercises (pictures) that are also supported online and are very good.
So all in all not as good as my Polychromos but a good 2nd. I would recommend these pencils to anyone that likes a colouring pencil that is soft, creamy, blends well, keeps its point then these are definitely for you. It has the added bonus of lots of extras and excellent customer service. Compared to much more expensive pencils these are a great price and a real bargain at £60!
I look forward to trying more Castle Arts products.

I now own several sets of Castle Arts products, 120 soft touch colouring pencils in a tin, 100 gel pens set, Tin of 12 Drawing Pencils & Set of 48 Pasteltint pencils + 3 A5 sketch pads in a Zip Up Case...& was hoping to win the 120 Gold set on Feb 14th (no such luck) purely because I love the Castle Arts products. The pencils are all really easy to use, they blend together beautifully & they're great value for money.

Castle Arts didn’t disappoint with this set of pastel colours. They’re easy to layer and have fantastic results with the other sets. The only set left to get are the metallic pencils.

They are beautiful pastel colours. Love them

Had been watching lots of YouTube videos on comparisons of coloured pencils rands, and Castle Arts had very positive feedback from the artists.
I had seen the pencils on Amazon and was impressed with the positive comments.
The price seemed to be a good mid range…..I didn’t necessarily want to spend hundreds of pounds on pencils as a ‘newbie’….but neither did I want cheap ones.
When Castle Arts released their new pencils, “ The Gold range” I was intrigued, and wrote to ask about the differences, etc.
Josh at Customer Services was very prompt at responding with a most excellent full, well written and helpful reply.
I was very impressed with his attention to detail and all round excellent customer service !
I ordered several of the Castle Arts products and am very pleased with them all.
The set of pastel coloured pencils are absolutely gorgeous and lay down so smoothly.
The ‘Gold Range” set of pencils feel like a cross between both a softer (waxier type ) and yet at the same time, also slightly harder (oil ) pencil.
I love the appearance and ‘feel’ of the colour when laying down this mixture and for me, it is exactly what I was hoping for in a pencil.
The black case with both sets of pencils is just perfect ….really nicely made and of good quality….a very smart feature.
I had previously read some comments that were not positive towards the case and I have no idea why anyone would not like it !! It neither looks nor feels ‘cheap’.
Also loved the inclusions of brochures, colour charts and all sorts of helpful bits and bobs.
A very welcome finishing touch !
One tiny thing …..On sharpening the pencils ( with a top quality sharpener), most were easy to sharpen and came out to a lovely point, but there were approx four pencils that just would not sharpen at all and kept breaking until I was literally half way down the pencil.
I also bought the huge pack of gel pens … most of which are great !
I am really having fun with them for all sorts of embellishments !
There are a few that were dry and I just threw them away..….but for that price, (which works out at 2 pence each)…..I definitely can not complain.
Overall, I am really pleased with all of the products.
Your customer service is top notch …..thank you !
Kindest regards and very best wishes !
Sheila

I've got a small set of Castle Arts standard pencils from Amazon. The quality is good. I do find the number of colours in a more muted palette is often limited in other sets, so bought these. Again, good quality. I love the swatch cards provided with the sets.

Beautiful range of colours - perfect for colouring books!

the only aspect missing is whether the coloured pencils are lightfast or not.

Castle Arts always oozes quality. The little touches with the Pasteltint pencils this time - sketch pads, a blank swatch sheet and the colouring technique book - genius! I just love the fact that they are already in a pencil case with a swatch sheet ready to go. The colours are lovely too. Do I recommend them? Hell yeah!

I was very impressed with the quality of the pencils and the case. The tutorials and the art pads were lovely. You get a great range of colours including some which could be classed as neon. I love those especially.
